Analysis
Me and Izzy decided to have the establishing shot of the mum and dad watching the daughter play happily in the park on the swings. We chose this setting because it depicts a very happy atmosphere within the scene, this allows the audience to understand that the family are oblivious as to what's going to happen to them. Also, this makes the opening of the horror film more realistic, due to the fact that, going to the park as a family is a normal thing to do in ones life. After this, the title will appear named "Inside", as it appears there will be loud and scary non-diegetic music to indicate the genre of the film being a horror. The title itself symbolises the possession inside the doll that then grasps itself into the young girl soul.
The long shot of the happy family walking home, away from the camera, symbolises the lack of protection the family now have. This is because the audience feel as if they cannot 'help' the family as they cannot see what they're doing anymore. They're walking the path that leads to their dangerous fait.
Later on in our main-brief, the high angle shot of the mother reading a bedtime story to the daughter depicts to the audience that someone who has power over the two characters is watching the scene. The close up shots of both the daughter and doll, highlights the soul swap of the two. This allows the audience to understand that the daughter has now become possessed.
This is then followed by a black out, followed by a pan to the window where the girl is standing outside the window. The pan allows the audience to feel as they're the ones looking round to the window, it also adds to the suspense of the scene. The fact the daughter is outside symbolises that her soul has left her body and she is trapped by the creature inside of her.
Our mini brief finishes on a zoomed in shot of a photo of the mum and dad. However, the mum and dad have been scribbled out and destroyed. This allows the audiences to discover that the possession inside the little girl wants to cause harm to the mum and dad. This also creates a cliff-hanger because the audience wants to see what happens next.
